Cecelia “Ceece” Vickers
Library Assistant – Dorothy Scott Osceola Memorial Library
Hello,
Call me “Ceece”. I am from the Bahamas, married with four adult sons and two granddaughters. As a certified Florida State Child Birth and Parenting Educator, it is so very satisfying to work in a library that has so many young patrons. My favorite part of the day is during “Story Times” with the Preschool children, when I get to transport them to another time and place and bring characters --real and fictional-- to life. In addition, assisting children develop their reading skills is particularly gratifying with the afterschool crowd. My passion is reading and when I see students reading independently deeply engaged in thought, it truly warms my heart!
My goal is to impart a love for reading and books, to help them develop skills and show progress in their learning of information literacy, to help them work to their maximum potential and gain academic skills that will help them succeed in life. I want them to view the world through different lenses and to learn more about themselves through reading. I am excited to be part of providing enjoyable enrichment and educational resources, as well as desirable reading materials for all tribal members. Our “Baby and Me” classes were launched together with the Tribe’s CCDT program, offering mothers an opportunity to learn about developmental milestones, nurturing parenting skills, infant massage and weekly topics of interest. From little ones to grown-ups, the Library has something for everyone!
