Luis Viveros, Jr.
K-12 Academic Advisor, Hollywood & Trail
My name is Luis Viveros, Jr. I am the product of Colombian parents, born and raised in Miami, Florida. My family, which is made up of my wife (STOF tribal member) and three daughters, have lived in Florida, Georgia and New Mexico. We returned to Florida to be closer to both our families and for our daughters to take a more active role in the Tribe. Besides working in Education, I have also tried my hand at acting. I have been in the movie “Book of Eli” and the TV show “Breaking Bad”. I also played semi-pro football in New Mexico.
I graduated from St. Thomas University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and from George Mason University with a M.Ed. in Special Education with a concentration in Autism. I have been in the educational field for the past 18 years. I have taught elementary school 4th-5th grades, middle school 6th-8th grades and Special Education (Social-Emotional District Program in New Mexico). For the past six years, I was the lead middle school teacher in the District’s Social-Emotional program in New Mexico. During that time, I gained valuable insight and realized the importance of communication, collaboration, patience, and building authentic relationships with my students. As a member of the Education Department, I hope to use my experience to continue to foster the relationship between the Education Department and the youth it serves within the Tribe. I am excited to begin this new journey!
